Burgers should never be boring. The sweet bite of apple and carrot throughout these burgers are a delicious treat, especially with the spicy guava sauce:
AIMEE'S APPLE-CARROT TURKEY (PORK) BURGERS
Let your ground turkey and pork come to room temperature for about 20 to 30 minutes before grilling or cooking on the stove top. The pork is optional in this burger, but makes them very juicy! If you prefer to leave it out, add an egg to your ground turkey.
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 pound ground pork
- 1 apple, peeled and grated
- 1 carrot, peeled and grated
- cumin, cayenne, seasoning salt - all to your taste, about 1 teaspoon of each
- dash of salt
- dash of pepper
- 1 Tablespoon Greek yogurt
Combine all ingredients until incorporated, being careful not to over-mix. Shape into desired size and either grill for 20 minutes or cook in a large cast iron skillet with olive oil; for about 4 minutes on first side, then flip and cover skillet with a lid and cook for another 6 minutes. One more flip might be necessary.
Spread Greek yogurt on buns then add Spicy Guava Sauce. Serve with lettuce, avocado, red onion, tomato, cheese of your choice, and any other condiments that you enjoy.
