Arroz con leches is a delicious, rice pudding dessert. Tres leches means "three milks" and is also a cake served in Hispanic countries. Today, I've combined the "tres leches" with the arroz (rice) to make Arroz con Tres Leches, using instant rice in place of arborio rice, to make it come together, faster!
AIMEE'S EASY ARROZ CON TRES LECHES
- 4 1/2 cups milk
- 3 cups instant rice
- 1 orange, peeled (in long strips)
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 (12 ounce can) evaporated milk
- 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup golden raisins (optional)
In a sauce pot over medium heat, bring the milk, rice cinnamon and orange peel to a boil. Once boiling, cover and remove the rice from the heat. Allow the rice to sit for about 5 minutes. Using a strainer, strain any excess milk that the rice did not absorb. Add the evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk, then heat all together. Taste and see if more cinnamon is needed. Cook over medium heat until the other milks have been absorbed. Add the golden raisins, if desired, and enjoy warm or allow to cool, then refrigerate to serve cold.
