AIMEE'S WATERMELON-PEACH AND STRAWBERRY-BANANA BATIDOS

I fell in love with Batidos in Miami, and my Cuban friends taught me how to make them.  They are inexpensive and so easy to do - try it with any of your favorite fruits!  Mango, watermelon, peaches, strawberries, bananas - go for them all!

Watermelon-Peach Batido:

  • 2 cups very cold, chopped watermelon
  • 1 peach, peeled and sliced (preferably frozen to keep cold)
  • 1 strawberry, frozen
  • 1 Tablespoon sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 to 4 pieces of ice

In a blender, chop ice and blend all ingredients together.  Serve cold.

Strawberry-Banana Batido

  • 2 bananas, frozen
  • 5 strawberries, frozen
  • 3 to 4 fresh strawberries (not frozen)
  • 1 Tablespoon sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 to 4 pieces of ice

Place bananas in microwave for about 25 seconds, just to loosen peel.  Remove peel and add to blender.  In a blender, chop ice and frozen strawberries and then blend all ingredients together.  Serve cold.
