TEXAS SHEET CAKE

 

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Mix all together. In a saucepan, place

  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ cup oil
  • 2 Tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 cup water

Cook over low heat until boil, stirring. Pour over dry ingredients and mix.

Add

  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla

Mix all together and pour into a greased jelly roll pan. Bake at 350 for 20 to 25 minutes.
 

FROSTING

  • 6 Tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 Tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 box powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ¼ cup milk (use your judgment)
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped

Mix all together. As soon as you take cake out of oven, spread over top of cake while it is still hot.
