February is Heart Awareness Month, and today is National Go Red Day! For a heart healthy, delicious snack, I've made chocolate fruit snacks!


Even in moderation, chocolate can be good for you! Paired with these fruits, these are "guilt-free" fruit snacks to enjoy and are even, "heart healthy." 

  • 1 bag of chocolate chips
  • 2 bananas, sliced
  • 8 strawberries 
  • 2 oranges, peeled and separated into segments
  • Nutella
  • Baker's Brew Coffee Spice or Peppermint Vanilla Bean Sugar from Savory Spice Shop
  • Toothpicks

Place the bag of chocolates in a bowl that you can place over simmering water in a sauce pot. (Double boiler method). Melt the chocolate, stirring until smooth, then remove from heat. While the chocolate is melting, spread Nutella between banana slices, then place a toothpick between the two, "sandwiched" banana slices. Place in the freezer to firm. Place toothpicks through the orange slices and strawberries. Dip the fruit into the chocolate, then place on parchment paper. If desired, sprinkle Baker's Brew Coffee Spice or Peppermint Vanilla Bean Sugar on wet chocolate. Remove the banana slices from the freezer, then dip into the chocolate. You can allow these to set at room temperature, or refrigerate them. Enjoy, and stay heart healthy!
