I always say it might get my, "Southern card" revoked, but I just don't love pecan pie. I'll eat it, but I don't love it. It's usually too sweet and makes my teeth feel like they're going to fall out! So, I've lightened it up a bit, and flavored it with some chocolate and a delicious bourbon!


  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup pecans, chopped 
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons bourbon (I used Basil Hayden's Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey)
  • 1 box mini fillo shells (Found in frozen food section; I use Athens brand fillo shells)

Preheat your oven to 350. Mix brown sugar, melted butter, egg, vanilla and bourbon. Toss a few of the chocolate chips and chopped pecans in this mixture. Remove the mini fillo shells from their packaging and place on a cookie sheet. Place the remaining chocolate chips and pecans inside each of the mini fillo shells. Pour the wet mixture on top of the chocolate and pecans then bake for 12 to 15 minutes. Enjoy!
