Tequila is actually good for you, when you buy 100% Agave. It helps aid digestion and is even good for inflammation. So these delicious margarita tacos taste both like a margarita and a shrimp taco. These are easy and healthy; much better than eating out, but your shrimp will taste like una margarita en las rocas, con sal. (A margarita on the rocks, with salt!)


  • 1 pound shrimp, deveined and peeled (with the tails on)
  • 2 to 3 limes, (zest the limes then remove all of the juice from both)
  • 1/2 cup tequila
  • ziptop bag
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • kosher salt (to taste)
  • corn tortillas
  • red cabbage, chopped
  • cilantro
  • 1 mango, diced
  • 1 papaya
  • 1 habanero pepper, diced
  • extra lime 

Place the shrimp, lime juice, lime zest and tequila in a large zip-top bag. Allow to marinate for about 10-15 minutes. Heat a medium sized skillet over medium-high heat then add the olive oil. Pour entire shrimp mixture into skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until they turn a coral-pink color and the tails curl inward. Add just a pinch of kosher salt; less than 1/2 a teaspoon. Remove the peel from the tails, then chop, coarsely. Place shrimp in corn tortillas, then add cabbage and cilantro. Mix together the mango, papaya and habanero pepper, and top the tacos with this sweet-heat mixture and squeeze extra lime juice over entire taco mixture.
